Pinterest Image Downloader

Download Pinterest images in original size, the largest file Pinterest keeps for the pin. Paste a pin or pin.it link, preview the photo at full size, and save it as JPG, PNG, or WebP with no watermark, login, or app.

What you can save

Every image pin, in the size you need

The downloader reads the pin you paste and lists each image file Pinterest offers for it, largest first.

Image pins

Standard pins with a single photo, illustration, infographic, or recipe card. The Original option is the full file Pinterest stores for the pin.

Video cover images

Paste a video pin to save its cover frame as a still image, alongside the MP4 video itself.

Animated pins

If a pin turns out to be animated, the result switches to GIF files instead. The GIF downloader page covers those in more detail.

Image sizes

What the size labels mean

Pinterest keeps several copies of every image. The labels describe those copies exactly; nothing is upscaled.

Original is the largest file

Original is the biggest copy Pinterest serves for the pin. It is the best choice for printing, design work, or zooming in.

Widths are Pinterest's own sizes

736 px matches a pin's close-up view, 474 px the grid, and 236 px a small thumbnail. The height scales to keep the shape.

No changes to the file

Files are passed through as delivered. PinDownloader does not add a watermark, crop, sharpen, or recompress anything.
Three quick steps

Download Pinterest images in 3 steps

Use this free Pinterest image downloader online with any public pin. There is no account to connect and no board to search: copy the pin's link and paste it above.

How to copy a pin link
  1. 1

    Copy the pin link

Open the pin, tap Share or the ••• menu, and choose Copy link. On a computer you can also copy the address from the browser bar while the pin is open.

  2. 2

    Paste it and preview

Paste the link into the box above and select Download. Tap the preview to view the image at full size before you save it.

  3. 3

    Pick a size and save

Choose Original for the best quality or a smaller width for a lighter file. Your browser saves it to its usual downloads location.

Pinterest links that work

Any link that opens a single public pin will work. These are the common forms.
Pin link
pinterest.com/pin/123456789/
Country domain
pinterest.co.uk/pin/123456789/
Short link
pin.it/AbC123
App share text
Check out this Pin… https://pin.it/AbC123

You can paste the whole message from the Share menu. The downloader picks out the link.

When an image pin won't download

A Pinterest address doesn't always lead to a downloadable image. These are the usual reasons.
  • Board or profile links: they hold many pins. Open one pin and copy its link.
  • Secret boards and private accounts: only public pins can be read.
  • Deleted pins: an old link may still open a page after the image is gone.
  • Promoted or shopping pins: some product pins link elsewhere and expose only a small preview.
  • Temporary errors: wait a moment and try again. Pinterest sometimes slows down automated requests.

About the tool

The free Pinterest image downloader for original-size photos

What PinDownloader saves from image pins, which sizes and formats you get, and how to download Pinterest images on any device.

PinDownloader is a free Pinterest image downloader that saves the picture from any public pin straight to your device. Copy the pin's link, paste it into the box at the top of this page, and download the Pinterest image in its original size, the largest file Pinterest keeps for that pin. It runs in your browser, so there is nothing to install and no account to create.

Saving a pin to a board keeps it inside Pinterest, and a screenshot only captures what fits on your screen, often with buttons in the way. When you want to save an image from Pinterest for a mood board, a printed recipe card, a phone wallpaper, or a design reference, you need the image file itself. Think of this tool as a Pinterest image saver that hands you that file, untouched.

Download Pinterest images in original size

Pinterest keeps several copies of every image it shows. PinDownloader reads the pin and lists the copies Pinterest serves, largest first. When the uploaded original is available, it sits at the top as Original: the biggest file Pinterest stores for that pin and the best choice for printing, zooming in, or editing. Pinterest may have resized or compressed it on upload, so it can be smaller than the creator's own copy, but it is the best version Pinterest has.

Below it you'll usually find Pinterest's standard sizes, 736, 474, and 236 px wide. They match a pin's close-up view, the home feed grid, and small thumbnails, and the height follows the image's shape, so nothing is stretched. Pick a smaller width when you want a lighter file for a message or a slow connection. The Pinterest image size guide compares each option in more detail.

HD photos with no watermark

This Pinterest photo downloader passes the file through exactly as Pinterest delivers it. There is no added watermark, no crop, no sharpening, and no recompression, so a high-resolution original arrives as the same HD photo Pinterest stores. The tool never upscales a small image to make it look bigger, which means the size label in the list describes the file you actually get.

The file format comes from Pinterest as well. Most pins are JPG, while some originals are PNG or WebP, and the Original option keeps whichever format the pin uses. Each download gets a clear name such as pinterest-123456789-original.jpg, so it is easy to find later.

Works with every Pinterest link, including pin.it

Every download starts with a link to one pin, in any of its common forms. A full address such as pinterest.com/pin/123456789 works, and so do country domains like pinterest.co.uk or de.pinterest.com and the pin.it short links the app creates when you tap Share. You can even paste the whole share message; the tool picks the link out of the text. That makes it a quick Pinterest pin downloader for the links friends send you in chats.

The one rule is that the link must open a single pin. Boards, profiles, and search pages hold many pins at once, so they can't be downloaded in one go. Open the image you want, copy its own link, and paste that. The guide to pin.it short links shows where Copy link sits in the app.

Save Pinterest images on iPhone, Android, and PC

The tool runs in any modern browser, so the same page works as a Pinterest image downloader for iPhone, Android, Windows, Mac, and Chromebook, with no app or browser extension to install. Tap the preview to see the photo at full size first, then choose a size and save it.

  • iPhone and iPad: open this page in Safari, paste the link, and tap Download. The image is saved to the Files app under Downloads; open it there and choose Share, then Save Image, to add it to Photos.
  • Android: Chrome and most other browsers save the image to the Downloads folder, and it usually appears in your gallery app as well.
  • Windows, Mac, and Chromebook: the file goes to your browser's downloads folder, ready to open in any photo viewer or editor.

Whichever device you use to download images from Pinterest, the steps stay the same: copy the link, paste it, and save the file.

Cover images, GIFs, and videos too

Not every pin is a still photo, and the same box handles the others. Paste a video pin and you can save its cover image alongside the MP4 video. Paste an animated pin and the result switches to GIF files, plus an MP4 version when Pinterest stores one.

That makes PinDownloader a general Pinterest picture downloader rather than a photo-only tool. For moving pins, the Pinterest GIF downloader explains GIF and MP4 files, and the Pinterest video downloader covers video pins with sound.

Free, private, and online

PinDownloader is free to use, with no sign-up and no subscription. You never enter your Pinterest password, and the tool can only read pins that anyone can open without logging in, so secret boards and private accounts stay private. Because it is a Pinterest downloader online, there is nothing to install, update, or leave running on your device.

Images stream from Pinterest's servers through our download proxy straight to your browser. They are not stored on our side, and the privacy page explains exactly what is processed.

Use downloaded images responsibly

Most images on Pinterest belong to the photographers, artists, and brands who made them, and pinning doesn't grant reuse rights. Save images for personal reference, mood boards, or projects where you have permission, and credit the creator when you share. PinDownloader is an independent tool and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Pinterest.

Image questions

Pinterest image downloader FAQ

Answers about cost, original quality, sizes, formats, phones, boards, and reuse rights.

Is this Pinterest image downloader free?

Yes. It's free and needs no account. Paste a public pin link, preview the image, and save it. You don't need the Pinterest app, a browser extension, or your Pinterest password.

Can I download a Pinterest image in its original size?

Usually, yes. When Pinterest serves the uploaded original for a pin, PinDownloader lists it first as Original. That is the largest file Pinterest stores for the pin, which may already be resized or compressed compared with the creator's own copy.

What do the 736 px, 474 px, and 236 px options mean?

They are the widths Pinterest uses for its own feeds and boards. The height follows the image's shape. Choose a smaller width when you need a lighter file for a message, a mood board, or a slow connection.

Why does my image save as JPG instead of PNG?

The file format comes from Pinterest. Many pins are stored as JPEG even if the creator uploaded a PNG, and the smaller widths are usually JPEG. If the pin's original is a PNG or WebP, the Original option keeps that format.

Can I download every image on a board at once?

No. PinDownloader works one pin at a time. A board or profile link points to many pins, so open the pin you want and copy its own link.

How do I save Pinterest images on iPhone or Android?

Open this page in your phone's browser, paste the pin link, and tap Download. On iPhone and iPad the image goes to the Files app under Downloads; open it there and choose Share, then Save Image, to add it to Photos. On Android, check the Downloads folder or your gallery app.

Does the downloader add a watermark or change the image?

No. The image is passed through exactly as Pinterest delivers it. PinDownloader adds no watermark and does not edit, crop, or recompress the file.

Can I use a downloaded Pinterest image on my website?

Only if you have permission. Most images on Pinterest belong to the people who created them, and pinning does not grant reuse rights. Contact the creator or the original source before publishing it.
